Livability Centers

Livability Project helps create ‘Livability Centers,’ a focal point or community “hub” for sustainable solutions. Livability Centers are a new type of mixed-use community center that can combine, under one roof, office space, educational kiosks, event venue, education center, organic café, health studio, green retail store, local project incubator and a Collaboratory™ for ongoing community collaboration.

Five features make a Livability Center different from other shared spaces.

  1. Focus on Sustainability - incorporates multiple aspects of a sustainable community including: transportation, health, renewable energy, zero waste, social networking, local food and much more.
  2. Diversity - dynamic and multi-purpose activities to support cross-section of stakeholders including private, public and non-profit sectors .
  3. Locally Owned – several business structure options (i.e. Public/Private partnership, cooperative, etc.) to enable community ownership and long-term economic viability.
  4. Collaboratory - unique environment and process for people to come together to solve complex problems….think collaboration laboratory
  5. Project Incubator - we help start projects or small green businesses identified as social benefit companies.  This helps the community become more self-reliant and creates local jobs.
